Details of Funding
NAC is ever so grateful to have received so much support from the Ontario Government and the Ontario Trillium Foundation since 2021.
A $50,000 Community Building Fund grant was awarded for the 21/22 season to help subsidize for coach salaries and the Club’s key fixed operating costs. The Community Building Fund operating stream grants were created to support arts and culture, heritage, tourism, sport and recreation organizations experiencing significant financial pressures due to the pandemic.
This grant came soon after the Club received a Resilient Communities Fund grant, also from OTF, in 2021. The grant was used to purchase two large ATCO trailers and create a space to house athletes, parents, and coaches while they are training; affectionately known as CAMP NAC.
Most recently (Fall 2022) we were fortunate to receive another Resilient Communities grant. The purpose of this funding is to support NAC’s efforts to rebuild our resilience and capacity to return to building healthy vibrant communities. NAC will receive the $105,200 grant over 24 months. The funding will help recover and build its resiliency from impacts of COVID-19 by hiring a Professional Development Manager/Coach to oversee staff and volunteer training, help conduct an organizational review, and adapt programming as needed.
We are looking forward to being able to continue to offer high quality ski racing programs for the Thunder Bay community and hopefully see a growth within the sport that mirrors the resurgence of alpine skiing in recent years.
